NFS: Rivals offers much of the same NFS gameplay that you’ve come to expect.

Therefore, when I bought my Xbox One, this was one of the two games that I purchased at release because of the brand that stood behind it. Some of my favorites came from the Need for Speed (NFS) family. When I finally did, I was overjoyed by the backload of games that I could now acquire at low prices. I never really got into racing games until a few years ago. I would like to think that new achievements will be added, although probably through paid DLC, that require players to bust certain racers with specific cop cars, or using specific pursuit tech, much like in Hot Pursuit.Īll in all, I really do love this game, it's easy to jump between single and multiplayer, the graphics look incredible on Next-gen, the soundtrack is excellent, and it's just generally fun to play! Hot Pursuit had a good mixture progression based achievements and achievements that required extra effort. I personally think that collecting achievements through doing things other than what is fed through the story or career, is half of the fun of a game. This may be good for some, as you can 1000G Rivals quite quickly, but for others, it may feel a little boring. Most of the achievements are unimaginative and you will simply unlock them through progression. One thing I do find a little disappointing are the achievements. Nonetheless, it works well and is a lot of fun. I'm not convinced however, that this will generate hours of repeat play, after the "story" has been completed. Not quite at the Forza standard, but for an arcade racer, they are pretty good.įrom what I've seen of the AllDrive function, it works quite well, and jumping into random police chases with other online players can be a lot of fun. The graphics are sublime the clearly visible weather conditions truly add to the detail, and the cars look outstanding. I loved Hot Pursuit, so I'm not necessarily complaining, but I do believe that we deserve a bit more, given that this is the second generation after Hot Pursuit. The diversity of landscape, challenges and races, and even the cars all feel very samey. If you've played Hot Pursuit, this has a very similar feel to it. I'll start by mentioning that I'm a huge Need for Speed fan, so this review may be slightly biased.
